"Too difficult to use, and not comfortable for baby!" 2009-11-22

The seller of this product is wonderful, but the Maya Wrap is not for me or my little guy. I guess I am just not a fan of ring slings. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews and this is the first baby carrier I decided to buy. My baby boy (4 weeks old when I received the sling) always wants to be held so I was looking forward to being able to hold him all the time and nurse him hands free.
First, I am small framed and the sling kept sliding down so the ring was too low. Then when I tried one of the positions my baby either kept hitting his head on the ring or grabbing onto it. The fabric is not soft and comfortable, it is a bit rough, and the sling does not feel comfortable (for me) when on. But most importantly I don't like the fact that with all the positions except the nursing one, my baby would have to have his legs crunched up in the "frog" position - he hates his legs being confined like that!
I returned it and ended up buying the Moby Wrap which I love - fabric is soft and comfortable, and my baby can have his legs out in almost all the positions. It is also much easier to figure out how to use and to get him in and out of.

I have been using for 6 months now and my son loves it! It's easy to travel with and versatile. Great gift for a new mom! Comes with DVD to show different ways to use it. My son is 6 months and loves to face forward like a kangaroo pouch. He used to sleep facing me (one of the only ways he would nap as a newborn!), and I can carry my 4 year old nephew on my hip in the sling. Great product!

This is a really nice wrap. However I do reach for my biorn active more. I found it fusterating to get used to. It's quite simple, but it's just not very smooth(adjusting it). I can imagine that the none padded version might be better. Still I do use it sometimes and it's a very nice wrap(I have the brown).

This wrap is really, really long! At first look it seems impossible to put this on by yourself but after some practice you get the hang of it. I had to have someone help me put it on the first time I used it but later on I figured how to do it myself. The wrap itself is very comfortable to use and the baby seems to like it as well b/c he sleeps for long periods in it. In the instruction manual, it shows you various ways to use it depending on how you want your baby to be facing. You do not feel any stress on your back when you use this wrap.

This wrap is so comfortable to wear and I love all the hold variations! Baby feels completely secure so I can be hands free. A must have! Don't waste time with any other baby carrier. I tried them all with my first son. I wish carrying the baby while pregnant was as comfy as carrying them with this wrap! It is actually really easy to put on after a little practice. Love love love it!

I first seen the Moby while I was grocery shopping. A woman was wearing one and I notcied that her infant was asleep inside - I asked her about it and she said it was the best thing since it allows her baby to be close to her while completing her tasks. Prior to getting the Moby Wrap I tried the Bjorn and the sling. The Bjorn works great but I think it's better for older babies. My son is 5 months and he loves to be in the Moby Wrap. I use when we go out shopping or around the house. I highly recommend this product!

i absolutely adore the moby wrap, it is incredibly comfortable and a wonderful bonding tool. my son can be a total cranky pants and as soon as i put him in the moby and walk around for a few minutes he is calm or asleep. i wear this to the grocery store and my baby is content the whole time we are out. i think he finds the closeness to mommy very soothing. we can feel eachother's hearts beating and the rhythm of our breathing. i loved being pregnant and this is sort of an extension of that feeling.
tonight i was able to take my baby to an orchestra concert in a loft near my home and he was calm and napping the whole time. i never feel guilty about taking him out past his bedtime because he is able to sleep in the moby so comfortably. i've been able to keep a bit of my social life because of it.
please know that it took me a few times of trying to wrap it before the baby arrived before i felt comfortable with it. it is a super long piece of fabric, there are terrific instructions so be patient and try it a few times before losing hope. i am now able to put it on rather quickly but there was a time when i was sure i wouldn't be able to figure it out. i put it on at home and wear it in the car so that when we get to our destination i just have to put him in it rather than wrap it in a parking lot where it will be dragging on the pavement.

The Moby was recommended and used by >10 friends for their babies, so we were delighted to receive ours for our recent newborn. The "fancier" wrap styles may be a little tricky at first, but the included manual (and YouTube video!) is very helpful. Our newborn sleeps very well snuggled in the Moby in the basic wrap pattern, and it allows moms to use both hands around the house and on the go. Our baby goes for a walk in the Moby everyday, and it is also helpful to keep babies well-wrappted & protected in public from germy strangers who want to peer at and touch the new baby!
My husband even wears and LOVES the Moby because we have it in a "non-girly color."
